Comedy Born in Appalachia, Refined in Atlanta, Perfected on Stage.

Drew Plant is an Atlanta-based stand-up comic known for experiential comedy about Southern-ness, sobriety and being a “gray gay” in the midst of a midlife crisis that’s gone into overtime. He finds humor in his bad decisions, not learning lessons quickly and insults most people wouldn’t repeat.

On his way to the comedy stage, Drew’s day-job as a communications strategist & writer took him to nuclear power plants, public health departments (no free swag, sorry) and an impromptu FBI interview. He has Real Housewives taglines about it all.

Drew came out early, escaping East Tennessee and bringing tales of his Appalachian granny with him. Along the way he accidentally dated a priest, didn’t say “no” enough and married twice. He says Tauruses make the best husbands; especially if they’re your own.

The former orthopedic device model dried out, lost weight, had some plastic surgery and flirted with Buddhism. Upon hearing from a club manager that an audience member said he sounded like Gay Cornbread, Drew adopted the shade as a persona, building a one-night-only show around it.

His comedy career includes performing at a venue at which the air conditioning had gone out. Another with no heat. One where the sound system failed. Drew says he’s living through deleted scenes from reality and the consequences of his own decisions and is happy to share them all with you in his wry, plainspoken and self-effacing way.

Drew has performed on familiar comedy stages, including the Punchline and Laughing Skull, and been part of private events, from Poncey-Highland to Flowery Branch and Hoschton, and his own show in Fall 2025, Gay Cornbread & Friends. He recently competed in the World Series of Comedy, in Atlanta, Detroit & Sarasota.

When not on the mic, Drew is writing a farcical murder mystery novel that includes a few too many real estate agents.
